One of the greatest ultrarunners of all time, the indefatigable Courtney Dauwalter, now has a signature colorway of the popular Salomon S/LAB Genesis. Not only has Courtney won the biggest ultras in the world, she's done so in astounding fashion, often times destroying long-standing women's course records. In the process, she has created a new reality for the sport at large, as well as what humans are capable of. 

To become the first person in history to win Western States, UTMB AND Hard rock in one summer, Courtney used the versatile S/LAB Genesis in her trademark colorway. So not only did she look fly breaking all historical records, she proved the versatility of the Genesis over varied and technical terrain. From the buffed singletrack of Northern California, to the technical, steep and relentless trails of southwest Colorado and the Alps, Courtney proved that the Genesis can not only conquer any terrain, it can do so in a historically unprecedented fashion.

 

Our testing of the shoe here in Tahoe, albeit at a fraction of the wear Courtney applies to a shoe, has validated this as well. The shoe has shone brightly on the rocky and technical terrain of the Broken Arrow Skyrace as well as the varied surfaces of the Tahoe Rim Trail. With an 8mm drop, a progressive forefoot rocker, a knit ankle-guard, and responsive cushioning, the Genesis has proven to be one of our favorite shoes of the summer. Throw in the Matryx upper for enhanced durability and we think this could be Salomon's best shoe of the last decade - and even more dope in Courtney's signature/limited edition color.
