Meet the Tahoe Waterman Foundation

The Tahoe Waterman Foundation is dedicated to helping people of all ages and abilities experience the healing power of water through paddle sports. The Tahoe Waterman Foundation provides ”pathways for personal growth and recovery for youth or adults with cognitive, sensory, mental health, and physical disabilities through simple but powerful paddle sports experiences and both time on and time in Lake Tahoe’s pure blue water.”

"Our unique programs provide access to specialized paddle sports equipment and professional paddle coaching resources for local youth and people facing life-changing mental or physical health challenges in Lake Tahoe, Truckee, Reno, and surrounding communities.”

Justin Broglio - Tahoe Waterman Foundation

Their Mission

"The Waterman Foundation Tahoe was created in 2010 with the passion of Anik and Jay Wild for paddling and Lake Tahoe. Founded by elite athletes, the initial idea was to get local kids on the water, learning water safety, growing and enjoying human-powered paddle sports on Lake Tahoe.

Today, the 501 (c)3 non-profit organization has evolved to serve people of all ages who are facing life-changing injuries and mental and physical health challenges.

The foundation provides resources and educational programs with the objective of creating positive changes through time on the water and time with fellow paddlers. Our Adaptive Paddling Programs make use of the healing power of water through paddle sport experiences."

How Your Contributions Help

The Winter Speaker Series support of the Tahoe Watermans Foundation will help more comprehensively establish their programs — this includes increasing their adaptive paddle coaching hours, purchasing more adaptive paddle equipment, and growing their reach through hiring staff, and building marketing strategies and more web capabilities. We were moved to learn that Waterman’s Landing is the only location on the lake with a Mobimat that allows wheelchair access to the water and by Jay and Anik’s commitment to sharing their passion with people of all abilities.
