MAXIMUM CONTROL, PRECISION AND SAFETY IN AN EMERGENCY
Compact avalanche transceiver with advanced features for professional use.
BUILT ON 45 YEARS OF PIONEERING SAFETY
The FOCUS PRO with its search-strip width of 80m redefines professional avalanche safety. Consistently designed to meet the demands of professional mountain rescuers, guides and athletes, the FOCUS PRO combines maximum performance, innovative professional features and patented safety technologies. Permanent overview, analog audio output and manual reach reduction make your search faster and more precise, while Smart Antenna Technology and interference protection ensure faster detection and maximum safety for your team.
FASTER SEARCH
- REACH: Effective search-strip width of 80m and 90m for all ORTOVOX avalanche transceivers with Smart Antenna Technology.
- PERMANENT OVERVIEW AND SCROLLING FUNCTION FOR MULTIPLE BURIED VICTIMS: The current distance to the four nearest transmitters is permanently displayed at the bottom of the screen – the scrolling function allows you to select specific buried persons. This ensures a clear overview and efficient group searches.
- MANUAL REDUCED REACH: Fixed adjustment of the search-strip width to 3m or 20m enables targeted focusing on nearby signals and minimizes interference in challenging scenarios.
- ANOLOG AUDIO OUTPUT: Analog-only mode with unfiltered raw signals for complex scenarios. Hybrid mode with digital display and analog sound reproduction – for acoustic detection of sources of interference and overlapping signals with full support from digital technology.
- STABLE DISPLAY FROM FIRST RECEPTION: Reliable signal transmission from the first reception thanks to a circular reception pattern with equal reach on the X and Y antennas.
- PATENTED VOICE NAVIGATION: Reduced number of selected, clear instructions – focused on the essentials and thus optimized for experienced users.
- INTERFERENCE PROTECTION: Automatic adjustment to electronic interference sources for maximum search performance.
- DISPLAY: Currently the largest Memory-in-Pixel (MIP) display on the market for optimal readability and orientation – in all weather conditions.
- INTUITIVE HANDLING: Clear, visual display and large controls (buttons and switches) for safe, easy operation, even when wearing gloves.
BE FOUND FASTER
- PATENTED SMART ANTENNA TECHNOLOGY: Analyzes the device’s location in the avalanche and automatically switches to the optimal transmitting antenna – for up to twice the reach and faster location.
- STANDBY MODE WITH SECONDARY AVALANCHE SWITCHOVER: Protective function for rescue workers who are not actively searching. In standby mode your own transmitting signal is temporarily suppressed so as not to interfere with the search. If the FOCUS PRO does not detect movement, it automatically switches to transmit mode after two minutes – so that rescuers who are not searching can also be located quickly in the event of a secondary avalanche.
- SEARCH MODE WITH SECONDARY AVALANCHE SWITCHOVER: Protective function for rescuers who are actively searching. If the FOCUS PRO does not detect movement during the search, it automatically switches to transmit mode after two minutes – so that searchers can be located quickly in the event of a secondary avalanche.
- INTERFERENCE PROTECTION: Automatic adjustment to electronic interference sources for maximum transmission performance.

AI FAQs
AI generated FAQs about the Focus Pro Beacon
How do I know this beacon will transmit a strong signal when I'm buried?
Smart Antenna Technology analyzes the beacon's position in an avalanche and automatically selects the optimal transmitting antenna. This system is designed for up to twice the range and faster location, while transmit-mode interference protection adjusts to electronic interference sources for maximum transmission performance.
Will this beacon work in very cold temperatures?
The rechargeable lithium-ion battery is specified to operate down to -20°C. That makes it suited to cold backcountry conditions within that stated temperature limit.
What happens if I accidentally switch this beacon to receive mode in an emergency?
If the FOCUS PRO is in search mode and does not detect movement, it automatically switches to transmit mode after two minutes. This secondary-avalanche switchover helps make a stationary searcher locatable after another avalanche.
How heavy is this, and will I notice carrying it all day?
The FOCUS PRO weighs 185 g and measures 12 x 7 x 2.3 cm. Its compact dimensions and stated weight give you clear numbers for assessing it within your daily backcountry carry setup.
How do I maintain this beacon between trips?
Use the free ORTOVOX App for regular software updates, device checks and training mode. The FOCUS PRO also has a permanent self-test to support ongoing readiness monitoring between trips.
What should I check on this beacon before each outing?
Use the group-check function and review the FOCUS PRO's permanent self-test before heading out. You can also use the ORTOVOX App's device-check function and install its regular recommended software updates.
What batteries does this beacon use, and how long do they last?
The FOCUS PRO uses a rechargeable lithium-ion battery that is specified to work down to -20°C. You recharge it by USB-C, supporting repeat use without disposable batteries.
What antenna length does this beacon have, and does that affect my search range?
The FOCUS PRO uses three antennas and has an ICAR-rated 80 m search-strip width. Its search-strip width increases to 90 m when searching for ORTOVOX avalanche transceivers with Smart Antenna Technology.
