Meet Truckee Roundhouse

Truckee Roundhouse is the featured nonprofit at Mountainfilm on Tour North Lake Tahoe! 100% of food, beverage, and givaway proceeds go to Truckee Roundhouse's mission to empower people to explore their creative potential and build a more connected, inspired, and vibrant world.

About the makerspace

Truckee Roundhouse serves as a hub for independent creativity and community collaboration. “In our 4,600-square-foot hangar located at Truckee Tahoe Airport, we offer five fully functioning shops - Wood, Metal, Textiles, Ceramics, and Technology - with a robust complement of high-quality tools, including cutting-edge CNC Laser Cutters, Plasma Cutters, and 3D printers.

Truckee was built by the early railroad and the railroad still runs through our small mountain town. Historically, a roundhouse was a place where a train would be serviced before changing directions.

Our founders named our makerspace The Truckee Roundhouse as a nod to our region’s railroad history and to serve as a symbol of what is possible when folks walk through our doors - you can learn a new skill, meet a mentor, launch a small business, and positively change the direction of your life.”

About their Impact

"The power of a makerspace goes far beyond the value of tools and training."

- Truckee Roundhouse

The safe environment we create serves to improve youth and community emotional resiliency and bolster economic potential through creative expression and vocational exposure.

As a community-run, community-benefiting organization, the Roundhouse enriches lives with meaningful professional and recreational arts and education programs.

About Mountainfilm On Tour

As ardent supporters of Mountainfilm's mission, the Alpenglow Sports team travels to Telluride each May to take in the festival and select a compelling batch of films to bring back to North Lake each fall. Mountainfilm on Tour takes some of the best films from the festival on the road to share the sentiment of changing the world through visual storytelling with the rest of America.

In recent years, the team at Alpenglow Sports identified another aspect of their experience at Mountainfilm that they wanted to bring to North Lake Tahoe, in addition to the moving films they saw: hosting multiple nights of films in different venues. As such, we've organized two distinct nights of programming and two unique occasions for our community to engage with the films and each other. Welcome to Mountainfilm on Tour North Lake Tahoe presented by Rab!
