Hi, I'm Cooper
I’ve recently moved back to Tahoe after four years of College on the east coast. I’m an avid mountain biker, trail runner, cross country skier, and backcountry skier.
My Story:
I grew up here in Tahoe just down the street from Alpenglow in Carnelian Bay. Tahoe provided the perfect playground for me; offering access to some of the most beautiful areas in the country and giving me amazing outdoor opportunities.
I first got on snow the winter after I learned to walk and have loved every minute of it. I spent the weekends as a mighty might at Palisades Tahoe where my love for wintry outdoors grew. During this time I also participated in Strider Gliders at Tahoe Cross Country in Tahoe City. I went on to prioritize nordic starting to compete competitively when I was 12. From strider gliders I went on to compete for Colby College’s Division 1 ski team.
I graduated May 2023 and am enjoying exploring my backyard in new ways. Whether it’s alpine starts to explore a new area in the Eastern Sierra or a quick run with the yellow lab on local trails, I’m always excited to be out with shining sun or blowing snow. Now, I’m focused much less on competing competitively, and instead, I aim to do more while having the most fun possible.
My Top 3:
Speedmax Helium Skate Plus
In so many movies characters speak of swords as an extension of your arm. This would be the ski equivalent of that idea. The Speedmax Helium’s new construction drastically improves the swing weight, flex characteristics, and speed (most importantly) compared to the previous generation. I like to describe this ski as a carbon rod strapped to your foot that complies to every small input you give the ski. It truly is an absolute blast to spend time on the trails while easy or racing.
Ergo Grip Active
Keeping your hands comfortable is the most important factor that influences how much fun you’ll have on a winter day. Hands that are either too cold or too warm is the perfect way to ruin an adventure. The Ergo Grip Active is the perfect glove for cold nordic skis and days spent on the skin track. These gloves will last years with little performance degradation ensuring your days are spent with smiles.
T77 Waxing Iron
Keeping your skis properly waxed is the best way to ensure you are maximizing the performance of your gear. I find that there is little point in buying the best gear if you’re not going to maintain it. Waxing is an easy and economical way to prolong the life of skis and make them the fastest on any given day. Once you get in the flow of waxing, it becomes an amazing way to relax and get ready for another awesome day.
Testing this season!
Radical Pro Boot
The ability to switch from climbing to skiing with one lever on these boots is amazing. Their wide fit is something that people with high volume feet like me will love. It doesn’t matter if a boot has all the features in the world. They need to fit right!
