The Surprising Choice
We choose the TrailTech shorts even on the coldest of days. That's because we're carrying more gear on cold days and the TrailTech short carries better than the rest of them. Paired with a belt, I have room for flasks, nutrition, and layers without needing a vest.
Use a Belt
Our goal is to run hard in cold weather without a vest. A vest is going to swamp your upper body layers and complicate layer changes. Choose LF 2L for the least bounce and most storage.
Wool Running Socks
Choose Darn Tough for a higher wool percentage and narrower fit. The 1044 is zero cushion and the Pacer is ultra-light weight and cushioned. The Falke RU5 has a wider toe box and a performance blend.
